We’re currently looking for a hands-on Maintenance / Industrial Electrician to join us on a 24-month fixed-term contract. You’ll be helping to keep our wide range of manufacturing equipment running smoothly and be part of a supportive, skilled maintenance team working on a variety of equipment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Electrical trade qualification or equivalent tertiary qualification, with EWRB registration.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a maintenance or industrial setting.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment, such as welders, paint systems, furnaces, and rotating machinery.
Experience with CNC equipment maintenance is an advantage.
Working knowledge of PLCs, VSDs, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems is an advantage.
Strong understanding of safe working practices.

We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Marine Controls Specialist Engineer to join our Technical Services team and help deliver world-class support for our next-generation control systems.
This position is key in transitioning our control systems from development into supported products in the field. You'll create technical content, diagnostic tools, and training resources, and provide hands-on technical support to internal teams, partners, and customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain technical product support materials, such as manuals, how-to guides, and diagnostic tools.
Deliver field support and troubleshooting for marine electronics and control systems.
Train internal teams, partners, and customers on system installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product support, manufacturing, and regional teams to ensure high-quality support infrastructure is in place.
Maintain lab and field-testing equipment in good working condition.
Act as a key liaison between customers and the development team, representing customer needs and advocating for product improvements and feature enhancements.
Provide technical direction and feedback to developers to ensure control system updates align with operational requirements.
Contribute to the design and development of diagnostic tools to support field service teams and enhance product reliability and maintainability in marine environments.
Requirements
To be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience required.
Experience, Skills & Attributes
Over 5 years’ experience in marine control systems, including product support, electronics servicing, and commissioning.
Hands-on practical experience diagnosing and repairing electronic systems in real-world environments.
Practical knowledge of marine control system testing, fault finding, and using diagnostic tools.
A strong customer focus with a flair for problem-solving.
Excellent written communication for creating technical documentation.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Comfortable working in field environments (e.g. shipyards or on-board vessels).
Although based in Christchurch, willing and able to travel both within New Zealand and overseas as client needs arise.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Software Engineering Graduate to join our Controls Development Team, contributing to the development of embedded software solutions for HamiltonJet’s advanced marine control systems. The ideal candidate could be in their final year of university or be a recent graduate with upto two years experience.
In this role, you’ll be involved in the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through to the creation, testing, and documentation of new and updated software. You'll help deliver high-quality solutions that support our world-leading marine technology.
What you’ll do:
Create, test, and document new and updated software programmes that meet company standards and align with the end user’s needs.
Development of software tools using C# .NET to support design, testing, and production processes.
Develop and maintain build environments for all HamiltonJet software products, ensuring reliability and consistency across projects.
Create, configure, and maintain computer systems used for information and file management.
Collaborate closely with engineers and other teams to deliver high-performance control systems.
What you’ll bring:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, majoring in software engineering or related computer engineering subjects.
Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, and C#.
Familiarity with embedded systems or hardware software integration would be advantageous.
Experience with software testing frameworks and automated test environments.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
